About CUWiP

Western Michigan University is proud to host a 2022 APS Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP). CUWiP is a three-day regional conference that will be held across the country the weekend of Friday, January 21 – Sunday, January 23, 2022. Western Michigan University will be one of twelve universities hosting.


The mission of CUWiP is to encourage undergraduate women to persist or start a career in physics by proving them with the opportunity to learn about career paths in physics, experience a professional conference, and discuss challenges and concerns. This conference was initiated in 2006 and research data indicate that CUWiP is effective in meeting its goals. It is being supported by in part from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy.

Statement of Inclusivity

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Western Michigan University CUWiP is working with thoughtful intention to include diverse perspectives and issues related to diversity and inclusion into all conference programming. The LOC is committed to creating a positive and respectful atmosphere of learning and collaboration with all participants of the WMU CUWiP. The LOC stands in support of members of all groups.
